Last week we were joined by 32 Year 7 students from the Anglo European School. All students are studying Mandarin as part of the Mandarin Excellence Programme, an accelerated language programme requiring 8 hours of input per week.

The students had planned and prepared a series of fun workshops to support our KS2 pupils with their Mandarin. The activities reinforced recent topics of Number, Family and Chinese Zodiac Animals. There were lots of fun warm up activities too. The students were impressed with our pupils’ enthusiasm, knowledge and vocabulary as they rose to the challenges set.

The Anglo European students were great teachers today, showing knowledge, patience and manners to our pupils. All our pupils were eager to learn and everyone got along brilliantly.

It was great to see the opportunities available for keen linguists to continue studying Mandarin at secondary school.

We hope to forge further links with the Anglo European School by sharing a similar event later in the school year.

All of the pupils and students worked brilliantly together.
